A hybrid death/black metal side project for Judas Iscariot founder and multi-instrumentalist Akhenaten, Sarcophagus was conceived in 1991 with the help of vocalist Frank Drago, guitarist Michael Matejka, bassist Marcus Kolar, and drummer Paul Bruneau. Taking their sweet time, the band would issue five demos in the next five years before recording two albums, 1996's For We...Who Are Consumed by Darkness and 1998's Requiem to the Death of Passion.
